The situation is a little tough everywhere, in fact, more in rural areas of India. There is a vast shortage of Oxygen cylinders in primary healthcare centers of villages, and citizens are losing lives while transferring to district hospitals. RIDA Foundation, Mumbai, in partnership with local and international NGO’s, is working on fundraising to supply Oxygen Concentrators in the village of the northern part of India.

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the acute shortage of ventilators /BiPAPs for the ‘Respiratory Intensive Care Unit’ for the acutely ill patients. Valuable time is lost and the patient’s live are unnecessarily endangered. Even for patients willing to pay for the costs, many times relatives are left to fend for themselves running between many hospitals. This adds to severe mental trauma to close family and relatives.

The consortium of RIDA Foundation (NGO), Octaware Technologies (Aggregator Platform), Transpact Enterprise (MedTech), and Centrium Healthcare offered a tech-enabled aggregator platform to address this challenge.

RIDA Foundation, Mumbai collaborated with its CSR partner Octaware Technologies Limited on a social project to create awareness about breast cancer in the people living in slums with insufficient resources and education.

The project’s goal included organizing the free diagnostic camp and providing treatment for people detected with cancer in 25 locations of Mumbai. The team used Project Management tools and techniques to execute the project efficiently and brought in innovation in project execution. The project bagged Project Management Institute (PMI) Awards 2020 under the category “Project of the Year – Contribution to the Community”.

RIDA Foundation, Mumbai Trust is now listed in the BSE, Sammaan platform, an initiative by the Confederation of India Industry (CII), BSE, and Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA). Sammaan is a platform that is the first of its kind that bridges the accountability gap between corporations and NGOs. With over 20 lakh NGOs registered in India, companies today find it increasingly hard to navigate the world of corporate social responsibilities. They can now pick from verified NGOs, avail of periodic reports and, get certification for Sammaan for their CSR contributions.
